Inlet Systems

Baltec IES designs and manufactures both Static and Pulse-type Filterhouses for a wide variety of gas turbines, together with the necessary Support Structures.

Static Filterhouses use disposable cartridge-type filters, and typically incorporate two levels of filtration - A stage of coarse pre-filters, for removing any larger airborne particles, followed by a stage of fine filters. The number of filters used, and hence the overall size of the Filterhouse, is selected based upon the minimum time required between filter changes, usually specified by the customer, and the dust concentration.

Pulse Filterhouses use conical-shaped filters and feature an inbuilt filter-cleaning system, where each filter is periodically blown clean by a burst of compressed air. The advantage of a Pulse Filterhouse over a Static Filterhouse is that the filter elements will last much longer between changes. As with a Static Filterhouse, the number of filters used, and hence the overall size of the Filterhouse, is selected based upon the minimum time required before the filters need replacing.

In addition to the Filterhouses, Baltec IES can also construct any ductwork necessary to interface the Filterhouse to the turbine, including Expansion Joints and Silencers if necessary. Inlet Silencers are custom designed to suit the noise specifications of the customer, and designed as an integral part of the Inlet System ductwork.
